This edition of the book is completely useless if you use a Kindle or tablet type devise. The formatting is completely unusable. Chats and tables are all over the place. Page references do not link. I'm sure this is a good book but in this form it is of zero value. Very disappointed indeed. Did the author or Amazon look at it on a tablet? I think not.Product details

As others have mentioned, it does have some issues displaying on the app on my iPhone, but if you contact Mr. Friedman, he will send you PDF copies of the guide and the Firmware 2.0 update, at no extra cost. Outstanding customer service, as far as I'm concerned.

Mr Friedman undoubtedly knows his subject but this ebook has many problems. Formatting is an issue whether on a or wide screen Mac but that's not the killer.
What drove me to distraction was that this book is out of date with the latest release of firmware. Following the step by step instructions for implementing Gary's personal set up preferences was impossible. After 5-6 attempts I tossed in the towel. He needs to update this manual ASAP.
There are also many editing issues that need attention.
The OM-D E-M1's menus are as complicated as its name suggests and the manual is traditional engineering prose.
This guide will give you a very good, in fact complete, understanding of the camera's functionalities and opportunities, written in plain English by someone who knows the trade. The author provides an honest opinion, shares excellent receipts for various situations and offers the occasional link to in-depth material for those interested. Some of the content is photography 101 material, which can easily be skipped by a seasoned veteran.
You've spent serious money on the camera, lenses and accessories - now spend the ten bucks and the time reading this book to make the most out of it.
PS! The formatting of the version is a bit off, but the author was very helpful with providing a PDF version as well as a nice booklet on the 2.0 firmware improvements.
The version is poorly formatted and hard to read, but if you buy the , the author will give you a download link to a PDF version which is perfect, which you can read on a PDF reader or . Problem solved. I've found too many books that had annoying format or content problems.
Gary Friedman's book itself is excellent. I own a copy of this book which I bought in PDF as well as his excellent follow ups for Firmware 2.0 and 4.0. I highly recommend them for any Olympus Omd E-m1. I purchased the edition at the last moment before my trip to Montana so I can easily access parts of it on my Ipad as needed. The version, at least the one delivered to my Ipad, has no Table of Content or Index so that I can learn/ review individual topics. This makes the version useless. The PDf versions of the book, firmware 2.0 and 4.0 are highly and easily accesable . I strongly recommend the Pdf version as the book and the author are both excellent
Lots of good information BUT,
The addition lacks a table of contents and the search function, AND it is formatted for a wide screen (your computer.)
So it is really the book without any of the functions that makes it easy to find the information for which you might be looking.
This book is a welcome relief from the Oly docs. I like the style – well organized and straightforward tech detail with a little personal point-of-view to make it all human. I have been an avid shooter for many years with, until a couple of years ago, all Canon. I don’t shoot as much as I used to, so occasionally have to review a few things with the E-M1, especially for situations for which I have not used that particular camera. It is a pretty good read without a lot of useless core dump, and it is fairly easy to find what you are after.
The edition works pretty well on a computer screen. Have not tried on a phone or tablet. Anyway there is a link in there to obtain a free pdf of the book which is quite good. You will also receive supplements covering the latest firmware through V4, so all in all it's very complete.
